Meet Hayden Reavis...
Born at just 27 weeks and 6 days, Hayden has been defying the odds since the day he was born. Hayden is a triplet, which combined with preterm birth, presented a number of health challenges. He suffered a grade IV and grade III brain bleed shortly after birth, resulting in hydrocephalus and bi-lateral VP shunts. He also developed necrotizing enterocolitis and had to have a portion of his bowel removed. Hayden’s brain bleeds, in addition to infection and other complications also resulted in an on-going battle with a rare form of epilepsy. He has a blind spot in his central vision & other visual impairments. Despite the daily challenges associated with Hayden’s complex medical conditions, he continues to defy the odds. Hayden LOVES all things baseball and is extremely thankful for the opportunity to play Challengers at DLL! Both of Hayden’s brothers share a love for baseball…I guess you could say it runs in the family!
"Our family has had a wonderful experience at DLL! Everyone has been extremely welcoming and inclusive to Hayden—he was even given the opportunity to play with Coach Amanda’s Braves team with his typically developing peers, which he absolutely loved! The Challenger team coaches, and Jerry have also been absolutely wonderful to encourage Hayden and make him feel welcome and loved."
-Holly Reavis, Mother of Hayden
Hayden is an honorary guest player with the Majors Division in which he is partnered with a player for safety
& plays the game along side the team, who support him during his Challenger Games.
